We at A.C.T. RECORDS are excited about what the LORD is doing in and through your music and ministry and we want to partner with you in any way we can to help you reach your audience for Christ.

As you familiarize yourself with our website you will read about some of the ways we believe we can assist you, including professional recordings. A word on that subject. At the moment we can only offer discounted services, but we envision that in the near future we will be able to offer full recording projects where your initial cost is very minimal. Let me briefly share with you how we intend to accomplish this:

1. The artist or band must apply and subsequently qualify for assistance. Application will include personal and church contact information, recent ministry experience and references to show that you are active in music ministry at least 3-4 times per month. We are most interested to assist those who are already doing ministry that we can come alongside and help to improve upon.

2. Once qualified and accepted, you will be assigned a producer or producers to work with and to propose a budget for your recordings.

3. If  all involved wish to move forward according to the proposed budget, the artist or band will be required to raise their own support for the initial deposit. This will vary from project to project but we are aiming at 15-20% of the project budget. This will cover hard costs of artwork, duplication, etc.

4. Production costs for your project will be carried by A.C.T. RECORDS and you will purchase your CD product from A.C.T. RECORDS on an as-needed basis. The cost of your fully produced CDs from us will be somewhat higher than actual duplication costs and will make a way for possible to recoup the production budget. The major difference here between A.C.T. RECORDS and other labels is that NOT recouping your budget will not leave you indebted to the label. And once a budget is recouped the cost per unit to the artist will be adjusted (lowered) accordingly.

5. The “Catch” is that in order for A.C.T. RECORDS to use donated funds for your project, A.C.T. RECORDS must own the masters.

6. The reason this “catch” is really not so terrible as you as an artist might think is that once a record budget is recouped A.C.T. RECORDS is willing to pass ownership back to the artist. However, transfer of ownership is contingent upon the artist maintaining any and all administrative duties involved in publishing and production royalties. Most artists, being rather terrible at this sort of thing, might be better off letting us handle the admin and just continuing to purchase CD product as-needed from the label.

We want artists to concentrate on the people they reach rather than the records they sell. I hope this introduction helps you to better understand what we are about here at A.C.T. RECORDS.
